Awesome to see Jay’s interview on hypebeast, @5andadime was a pioneer in the East Village of SD, and helped inspire us to open up in the neighborhood back in the day, we take a lot of pride in our community because of guys like Jay and his crew who were willing to take risks and had the vision and follow through to persevere. Independent businesses like 5&ADime don’t get enough credit for helping build the fabric and identity of our neighborhoods, and saving them from digressing into a commodified “chainville” so thanks for being you @5andadime it’s been a beautiful struggle. #dontgojasonwaterfallsforpresident

Polite Provisions bar takeover next Sunday at Pasdeloup Maison Hedoniste in Paris. All proceeds to benefit the French Red Cross. We’ve been planning this event for sometime, and with last weeks atrocities our first response was to cancel. But after deep conversations with our french counterparts in Paris we’ve decided to move forward. The goal of any terrorist is to inspire terror and fear, and when we change our behavior in response it only strengthens their efforts. In honor of the victims we will be donating all proceeds to the Red Cross’s victim’s response unit. Facilitating human connection is always an important part of coping with tragedy, so if you find yourself in the city next Sunday, please say hi…….

Spending some time updating playlists, had a heated internal philosophical debate on the merits of the R. Kelly classic “Bump n’ Grind”,and whether to include it on our updated playlist, while we are not a fan of the man, the song is a classic and perfectly encapsulates adolescent urges and angst, in the end we decided to include it, and came the conclusion that we should separate the man from his art, we are always coming to terms with the hard metaphysical issues in life to give our guests a more comprehensive dining experience.
