(re-posted from El Dorado Cocktail Lounge)
Tonight is our Spring Cocktail Menu Release Party at El Dorado! This will be our first new menu of 2013, as we take the opportunity at the dawn of each new season to construct cocktails that reflect both the senses of the current climate, as well as represent the classic cocktail families that have been a permanent institution at El Dorado. These are always some of our favorite parties to host, and tomorrow will be no different!
We’ll have all of our new cocktails available at just $5 for the entire evening, and our good friends from Soda & Swine will be in the house serving up appetizers. Harley Magsino will be entertaining the crowd with a selection tunes, and the one and only V-Rock will be spinning jams all night long. We’d like to share two cocktails that we’re really excited about on this menu… hopefully learning a little more will get you nearly as excited as us for tonight!
Rye ‘n Gosling
Rye Whisky • Black Rum • Lime • Ginger Syrup • Tiki Bitters • Soda
Sophie and her Sunday-Monday crew had the idea for this, and experimented with the help of Ryan Kuntz (who always brings the menus together prior to release) to perfect this tiki-inspired rum highball. The rye really helps give it that extra punch without interrupting the smoothness of the dark rum and citrus. We’ve been making these for ourselves for the last month, and haven’t grown tired of them yet. We’re pretty anxious to hear from everyone about this one!
Gin • Cocchi Americano • Maraschino • Rose Water • Cucumber • Cracked Salt
Our Martini variation for the season, we’ve substituted Cocchi Americano in lieu of the standard dry vermouth, and then added some maraschino to balance the dry with a little hint of sweet. The outcome is a cocktail that really gets you ready for some warmer evenings. Cool and crisp, with the rose water cucumber adding that extra refreshing element, this cocktail screams Spring.
Below is a look at the rest of the menu, so come with a plan, or just show up with an open mind and see where the wind takes you. Either way you’re in for a night of great drink, delicious food, smooth tunes, and fantastic people. What else could you ask for?
